Why an

internship?
1. A future employer might be found!
- By participating in an internship, you may just get offered a job once you are graduated.

2. You may put what you’ve learned into practice

- An internship allows you to practice what you have learned thus far and see whether you like that job
position or not.

3. Learn from those onsite!

- What better way to learn and improve than from those working in that field for months to years?

4. Improves your resume

- Having an internship on your resume may help be the deciding factor between you and another
applicant.

5. Grow your Network

- An internship will allow you to get to know others and meet people who may have worked elsewhere or
have great connections that could be to your benefit.

6. It can be a lifechanging experience!

- Working an internship can open opportunities, help you gain experience, or can introduce you to lifetime
friends and connections.
We Some of the Con’s of an internship is that most are unpaid, making it
discouraging to participate or seek one. And even though most do not

mentioned offer compensation, it can still be very competitive to be chosen for one
as there are many applicants. If an internship is attained, one may
discover challenges that come along the way after working so hard to

the Pro’s, but find one. There may be very high expectations on the job, making it
seem as it is more of a stressor in life than it is a chance from
experience, growth and opportunity. There may also be factors that make

demanding hours, the location, and balancing life outside of the

the Con’s? To avoid having bumps in the roach on a search for an internship or
during one, there are several things one may be of help. Being prepared,
knowing the ins and outs, by doing much research before hand, and
using tools such as Academic Advisors, or the Internship office at your
university may come to your benefit to help find the right fit.
Most universities offer on-campus help to give their
students the opportunity to succeed in finding an internship.

internship? There are also many off-campus sources students may
access directly through their smart devices. App’s such as
LinkedIn, Indeed, and Chegg Internships allows the ability to
find an internship at the tip of your very fingertips. These
Apps allow oneself to promote their abilities, skills, and
experience to companies searching for an intern. If choosing
an option as so, one must assure that their profile, resume, and
cover letter is professional in grammar, layout, etc. to ensure
the best impression to companies that are being applied to and
are being reviewed by employers to consider.
Below, I have posted two websites that are linked to two internships I would have interest in
participating in. I found these two internships through the mobile App Indeed and LinkedIn. These
two cites will be of great use when I am in my career. These apps can be used in many ways, allowing
them to be useful along my future. When having decided on a major, using these sources will be
helpful in finding an internship, as I have found a couple that are of interest to me below. These
resources will also be beneficial to have when I am graduated and am looking for jobs that I can apply
for. This gives me the access to view job descriptions, requirements, and to apply to them. Also, if I
one day find myself in a management position, these very same apps will help me find interns and
employees to a company I help manage.

I chose the internships below because they are both in positions or companies that I would be
interested in working for in the future. They would be beneficial to intern in to see if I am passionate
enough to work in such an environment long term.

I have an internship,
now what?
Make the most of it! Internships are wonderful tools to have at the start of a
career path. They are there to teach you, stretch you, give you experience,
and most importantly, give you an idea what it's like in the work
environment. To make the most of an internship, always start off with a
happy, and grateful attitude. There is a quote that says "Smile will change
your mood and silence will change your attitude" - Anshul Agrahri. By
beginning an internship with a positive mindset and smile, you are allowing
yourself to start off with an open-minded, ready-to-learn attitude. Being
flexible to change, difficulties, and bumps in the road will allow you to grow
and realize a real job will contribute the same hardships - you will be able to
better handle those struggles in your career when they come. Internships are
such a short, little part of our careers. Make friends, don't take things so
personally when corrected, learn, laugh about mistakes, take notes, notice
what you like and don't like - and all of these will make you make the most
of your internship. There is a quote that says, "The distinction between
"assistant" and "intern" is a simple one: assistants are paid, interns are not.
But of course, interns are paid, in experience" – Joyce Carol Oates.
