ETHICS AS A BRANCH OF
PHILOSOPY
Ethics is a branch of philosophy that "involves
concepts of right and wrong behavior."
NORMATIVES THEORIES
Deontological Theory
Deontological ethics, is associated with the father of modern
deontology, Immanuel Kant.
“people have a duty to respect other people’s rights and treat
them accordingly.” The core concept behind this is that there are
objective obligations, or duties, that are required of all people.
When faced with an ethical situation, then, the process is simply
one of identifying one’s duty and making the appropriate
decision.
JUSTICE THEORY
Justice approach is also know as “ fairness” approach
that all equals should be treated equally.
Justice does not depend on consequences; it depends
on the principal of equality.
RIGHTS THEORY
Rights theory recognize that human beings have
fundamental rights and privileges that transcend
national boundaries and culture.
Respecting rights of others.
TELEOLOGYCAL THEORY
This theory concerned with the consequences of
actions which means the basic standards for our
actions being morally right or wrong depends on the
good or evil generated.
ETHICAL EGOISM
It is a theory of self-interest.
Most valuable is ones own welfare.
Whatever maximizes ones personal good is right.
Utilitarianism
It is the theory which contends that we should act in
such a way that our actions produce the greatest
quantity of happiness or pleasure.
it produces the greatest good for the greatest
number of people. Utilitarianism is all about the
majority, the greater good.
