All About NCLEX

NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination-


Registered Nurse). All boards of nursing in states and
territories of the United States and Canada require
candidates to pass this exam for licensure as a registered
nurse (RN). After graduation from a school or college of
nursing, one takes the NCLEX exam to receive his or her
nursing license. A nursing license gives an individual the
permission to practice nursing, granted by the state where
he or she met the requirements.

NCLEX examinations are provided in a computerized


adaptive testing (CAT) format and are presently
administered by Pearson VUE in their network of Pearson
Professional Centers (PPC).

➔ Reduction of Risk Potential: 13 – 19% of questions

What We Can Expect On The Exam Day
★ It is a computer based exam, it is more interactive and adaptive because your first
question answer will decide the next question you have given.

★ If you answer correctly the next question will be higher level and incorrect
answering returns to a low level question.

★ In this way the computer generate questions until you reach a pass or fail
grade.

★ You have to answer 75 – 265 questions within 6 hours and all questions are
multiple choice.

★ Papers are not allowed for making calculations, you will be provided on screen
calculator for making calculations.

★ Your exam will considered as complete when you answered minimum 75


questions.

★ Answering maximum no of question will decide pass or fail or maximum time


allowed will decide it.
Receiving Your Grade
➢ NCLEX exam won't provide you a numerical score. It is a
pass or fail system. Results won't announce at end of
the exam. State Board of Nursing will inform you about
pass or fail.

➢ If you fail in the first attempt you are allowed to take test
after 45 days of first test. You will also receive a profile on
your performance in the previous exam so that you can
prepare better.

➢ This profile helps you whether you can prepare yourself


or you have to take practice tests.
