ACROMOCLAVICULAR JOINT

INTODUCTION
Joint is junction
between two or
more bones.
It allow
movement
ARTICULATIONS
It occurs between
acromian process
of scapula and
lateral end of
clavicle.
TYPE OF JOINT

Synovial plane joint.

CAPSULE
This joint is
surrounded by
capsule which
is attached to
the margins of
articular
surface.
LIGAMENTS
Superior and
inferior
Acromio-clavicular
ligaments
reinforce the
capsule.
ACCESSORY LIGAMENT
These extends from coracoid process to the
undersurface of clavicle called
coraco-clavicular ligament.
It is responsible for suspending weight of
scapula and upper limb from clavicl.
SYNOVIAL MEMBRANE
This lines the
capsule and is
attached to the
margins of the
cartilage covering
the articular
surfaces
NERVE SUPPLY
By the suprascapular nerve.
MOVEMENT
Plane joint so gliding movement takes
place when the scapula rotate or when
the clavicle is depressed or elevated.
DISLOCATION
SHOLDER SEPERATION
A severe blow on point on shoulder can result
in acromion being thrust beneath the lateral
end of clavical tearing the coracoclavicular
ligament.
CAUSES
Any sever fall as
during tackling in foot
ball
RAMIDY
As in this case dislocation
is easily removed but
withdrawal of support
results in immediate
re- dislocation
