Climate Change

LONG TERM EFFECTS OF CLIMATE

CHANGE

Scientists have predicted that long-term effects of

climate change will include a decrease in sea ice and
an increase in permafrost thawing, an increase in heat
waves and heavy precipitation, and decreased water
resources in semi-arid regions
IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN
AGRICULTURE

-production will be affected by increasing temperatures,

changing rainfall patterns, and more frequent and intense
extreme weather events. - These will have direct effects
on crop growth and their need for water, as well as soil
fertility, water supply for irrigation, and prevalence of
pests and diseases
IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN
FISHERIES
The potential impacts of climate change on fisheries
are categorized as physical and biological changes:
physical changes include water surface temperature
rise, sea level rise, increasing water salinity and
ocean acidification; biological changes include
changes in primary production and changes in fish
stock
IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN
WATER SUPPLY AND QUALITY

Additional effects of global climate change that have important

implications for water resources include increased evaporation
rates, a higher proportion of precipitation received as rain, rather
than snow, earlier and shorter runoff seasons, increased water
temperatures, and decreased water quality in both inland
• Climate change, together with other natural and human-made
health stressors, influences human health and disease in
numerous ways. Some existing health threats will intensify and
new health threats will emerge. Not everyone is equally at risk.
Important considerations include age, economic resources, and
location
•Climate change may also influence the spread or transmission of
foodborne pathogens. For example, warmer temperatures in
summer and milder winters may increase the abundance of pests
such as insects and rodents which can spread foodborne pathogens.
IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN DIFFERENT
REGION
• El ñino phenomenon will intensity - The intensity of El Niño events
varies from weak temperature increases (about 4–5° F) with only
moderate local effects on weather and climate to very strong increases
(14–18° F) associated with worldwide climatic changes

• The sea surface temperature will rise

The rate of global sea level rise has accelerated over the past few decades.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global
sea surface temperatures are expected to rise by approximately 0.4 – 1.1°C by
2025
•Ocean Acidilation - ocean acidification, the worldwide reduction in the pH of
seawater as a consequence of the absorption of large amounts of carbon
dioxide (CO2) by the oceans. ... With additional CO2 transferred to the oceans,
pH would decline further; under worst-case scenarios, seawater pH would
drop to between 7.8 and 7.9 by 2100
• Tropical cyclone will intensity - Tropical cyclones that develop in the
Northern Hemisphere are unofficially classified by the warning centres on
one of three intensity scales.
Southwest Indian Ocean. Tropical Cyclone Intensity Scale
Rainfall River flow and flooding
- Monsoon rainfall in the Philippines will intesify. Some parts of the
country will experience an upward trend in water precipitation
