TOPIC - HEMORRHOIDS

CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR
• INTERNAL HEMORRHOIDS thrombosis (ie, clotting of blood
within the hemorrhoid) severe pain from the inflammation
and edema this may lead to ischemia of the area and eventual
necrosis

• EXTERNAL HEMORRHOIDS not usually painful until they


bleed or prolapse when they become enlarged
SURGICAL MANAGEMENT
• Rubber-band ligation procedure
• Cryosurgical hemorrhoidectomy,
• Stapled hemorrhoidopexy
• If it is not successful, hemorrhoidectomy, or surgical excision, may
be performed to remove all the redundant tissue involved in the
process
