Introduction
Are you a perfectionist?
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) was described by Oxford Don,
Robert Burton when they reported a case in his compendium early in the
seventeenth century, The Anatomy of Melancholy (1621).
25 % of (OCD) sufferers have family member with (OCD) and the studies
indicate that genes in general can be a cause of (OCD).
OCD is when perfection is overrated, when people set illogical standers
and held themselves to it. In other words, set the bar too high, reoccurring
thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions). there are many effects
and causes of (OCD) that affect in human life but still have not been
identified, some causes and effect have been discovered and scientists are
working to find other. We should work on this disease and do more
research about it to help this part of community, and in our research we
will focus more on causes and effect of (OCD) and explain it. The first
aim of our research is making the world better to them. Secondly, to make
the researchers focus more on this disease.
Literature review
 Causes
There are plenty of theories surrounding the potential causes such as
genetics, environment and biology. Research stated that (OCD) results of
many things such as neurobiologyical, genetic and behavior, 25 % of
(OCD) sufferers have family member with (OCD) and the studies indicate
that genes in general can be a cause of (OCD). And (OCD) is a
combination of neurological, genetic and behavioral causes. According to
better health, (OCD ) is an anxiety disorder that affects 2-3 percent of the
population. Some environmental factors are suggested as a trigger for OCD
such as a stressful life, people who have stress in their life for example
exhaustion due to working can be one of the causes. Researches found that
(IFD) can be a cause of (OCD) because for every 76 patients of (IFD)19.7
percent of them have (OCD). This shows that there is a relationship
between (IFD) and (OCD). In conclusion, there are many causes of (OCD)
that still have not been identified some causes have been discovered and
scientists are working to find other causes.
 Effect
(OCD) has many effects that are serious and effect a person’s life. (OCD)
effects more then 2 million adults in the united states that effect can be
short-term like work or trouble maintaining friendships or long-term such
as depression. about 50% of people who are affected by (OCD) are hard
cases and less then quarter are mild cases (OCD) can have an effect in
many ways some can stay the whole the day at home and cry and it can
have Physical damage like compulsions.

Methodology
 Participants
The participants in this survey were from all around Princess Nourah university. All participants were
volunteers and were 100 in total. The survey was conducted on the 22th November.
 Material
The survey had five main questions in two different formats: ”yes/no” questions and multiple choice
questions. The participants were also required to complete demographic questions which include causes,
effect of (OCD), gender and if they college students.
 Procedure
Firstly, each participant was asked to fill out the demographic and the questions sections in the survey to
the best of their ability. After the survey was completed. Participants were thanked for their support and
cooperation.
 Data Analysis
Google forms was used to collect responses to the individual questions alongside the demographic data.
No additional comments or opinions by the subjects were required. Once the surveys were completed the
data was transferred to two different styles of char
Results
 Effect
We did an online survey asking about obsessive-compulsive disorder and the result show that friendship and
relationship are effect by 27.47%, and the anxiety is 53.35% which is twice as many friendship and
relationship.
As well the percentage of physical health and depression were the same reaching at 30.77%.
The lowest main effect was other it only 2.2%
There are many main effects of obsessive-compulsive disorder and the anxiety is the highest.
 Causes
We did an online survey asking about obsessive-compulsive disorder in female college student.
However, this pie chart describes the data of major causes that we collected. 31.82% of student choose
genetics. Then the behavior, 51% which is almost double biology 26.14%.the lowest percentage was other it
is reaching only 4.55%.
In concluding, it is clear that there are fluctuate in the percentage of main causes of obsessive-compulsive.
Discussion
4.1 Causes of obsessive-compulsive disorder among student collage
According  to the results the highest main causes is behavior compared to
genetics, Biology and other causes. “beyondocd.org” study the causes of
obsessive-compulsive disorder found that quarter of the people suffer from
obsessive-compulsive disorder are caused by genetics. We found in the
current studies there are differences in the percentage but there is
nonsignificant differences between them. Endogamy could be reason for
this, because one of the parents may be carrying for the causative gene and
the specific genes have yet to be identified.
4.2 Effect of obsessive-compulsive disorder among student collage
according to the results the most common effect is anxiety compared to
depression, physical health, and other effect.The finding from current
study showed that the highest effect of (OCD) is anxiety compared to
“OCDUK” They found that most of the (OCD) patients suffered from hard
cases and less than a quarter are mild cases which means that anxiety is
hard effect. It’s clear that anxiety is the most common effect one reason
for this may be life or work stress and sometime society’s perception
Conclusion
In conclusion, Obsessive-compulsive disorder is mental health
disorder reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors
(compulsions) it is a chronic disease can affect in all ages. By
understanding causes and effect of (OCD) this will allow people to
have a better understanding of what they are.
This paper investigated causes and effect of (OCD) in Saudi female
collage students, the most significant percentage in causes from our
research is behavior because it is related to life and a persons daily
routine, and the highly effect percentage is anxiety as we mentioned
before the reason could be work and life stress.
In order to better understand the causes and effect of (OCD) we
need controlled studies, to help this category which is part of our
community.
