INTRODUCTION
• Supply Chain Management can be defined as the management of flow of products
and services.
• It also comprises movement and storage of raw materials that are involved in work in
progress, inventory and fully furnished goods.

• The main objective of supply chain management is to monitor and relate production,
distribution, and shipment of products and services.

• This can be done by companies with a very good and tight hold over internal
inventories, production, distribution, internal productions and sales.
OBJECTIVES
• To study Supply Chain Management System that includes inventory
management.

• To ascertain the factors affecting the supply chain process.

• To understand the relationship between Supply Chain and Operation


Functions.

• To study the effectiveness of the supply chain process at Flipkart with regard
to management of inventory.

• To study the importance of the Warehouse with regard to Supply Chain.


COMPANY PROFILE
• Flipkart was founded in October 2007 by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal.
• It is one of India’s leading E-commerce marketplaces and is headquartered
in Bengaluru.

• Launched in 2007, Flipkart has enabled millions of consumers, sellers,


merchants and small businesses to be a part of India’s e-commerce
revolution.

• Flipkart is known for pioneering services such as Cash on Delivery, No Cost


EMI and easy returns – customer-centric innovations that have made online
shopping more accessible and affordable for millions of Indians.

• Together with Myntra and Jabong, the Flipkart Group has steered the
transformation of commerce in India through technology.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
◼ The strategy of supply chain needs to be integrated and coordinated throughout the supply chain
to generate the performance of supply chain members.

◼ Mason-Jones et al. (2000) and Lewicka (2011) argued that supply chains need to adopt a strategy
that suits both their particular product and marketplace.

◼ Fisher (1997) suggested that the first step in developing the supply chain strategy is to consider
the nature of the demand for an organization’s product, proposing that these are either functional
or innovative.

◼ Naylor et al. (1999) uses the term “legality” as an integration of lean and agile paradigms with the
aid of a decoupling point in the supply chain.
