 • Many models today only include
some elements of self-driving, with
features like:
Self-driving • Adaptive cruise control
cars today • Lane-centering steering
• Bumper mounted radar
• Sensors function with synergy
The history of driving
or lack thereof.
• The concept of a self-driving car dates back to 1940s
with General Motors doing an exhibit showing how
the world would look like in 20 years, although they
were far off with the time estimate the concept is
still there and gaining traction in the 21st century
with companies like Tesla and Volvo implementing
features like autopilot.
What would the WLAN
implementation enable

• Well first of all the Ohio State University Center for

Intelligent Transportation Research has developed
three automated vehicles demonstrating
advanced cruise control, automated steering
control for lane keeping, and autonomous
behavior including automated stopping and lane
changes in reaction to other vehicles.
• However, this system only works on a highway
with a single road and a constant speed. It would
surely fail if it was applied in a high density
populated region.
