Ques: 1 bottle of ink is used to color a cube. If the cube is
divided into 8 equal parts, how many bottles of ink is used to
color to cube? Hint: There are a total 6 surfaces in a cube &
Ans: The cube
1 surface is like this:
area=length of a side*

length of a side

Surfaces of a cube=6
Area of 1 surface = x*x
So area of 6 ” = x*x*6
= 6x^2 sq. unit
2
Now we have to divide the cube into 8 parts. Then it will
p
be like this:

Length of each surface after dividing the cube: x/8

Here,

Area of above surface:(x/8*x*4)sq. unit=x^2/2 sq. unit

•.

Area of above surface: ( x*x*2)sq. unit=2x^2 sq. unit

So now the total area of 1 part: (x^2/2+2x^2) sq. unit
: (x^2( 1/2 + 2)sq. unit
: ( x^2(1+4/2)=5/2 sq. unit

Title 4

As we have have got the area of 1 part, now we can easily find
the area of 8 part
5/2*x^2*8
= 5* x^2*4
= 20 x^2
5
For 6x^2 sq. unit, we need = 1 bottle
ink
For 1 sq. unit , we will ” = 1/6x^2
bottle ink
For 20x^2 sq. unit ” ” ” =
20x^2*1/6x^2 ” ”
= 20/6
=
10/3=3.333 ” ”

Ans: If the cube is divided

into 8 parts, 3.333 bottle ink
is prequired to color the cube.
