Career

Libido?
“There’s no spark
any more.”
“I just feel empty…”
“The magic’s gone.”

Is this how you feel

about your job?
Like a long-term
relationship,
even a job you
adore can start
to get… well, a
bit boring
after a while.
If so, then you might just
have got low career libido!

Like in a relationship,
you have to work on it
to avoid boredom and
disillusionment.
Here are 3 simple suggestions
to rekindle the spark in your job:

• Try something new

• Learn something
new
• Reconnect with
your bigger ‘why’
The primitive parts of
our brains are
fascinated with the
new—or, more
specifically, a new
twist on something
we already thought
we knew.
1. Try something new:
Pick just one thing to change
up this week at work and note
the impact it makes on your
engagement. Think new task,
working from home, meeting
new people, etc.
2. Learn something new:
Learning something new is a
great way to bring the spark
back. Choose one book, blog,
or podcast to consume this
week that might expand your
education.
3. Reconnect with your
bigger ‘why’:
Take a walk down memory lane
and try to recall what got you
excited to go to work when you
first started your job. Brainstorm
some ways to incorporate those
things back into your daily work.
