ASSIGNMENT: CONTOUR DRAWING
• Contour Drawing:

contour is a slow, intense inspection of parts.

A contour line is a single, clean, incisive line,
which defines edges. It is, however, unlike
outline, which only states the outside edge of
an object defining difference between positive
and negative space.

• Types Of Contour Drawing:

There are 4 main types of contour drawing.
1. Blind Contour
2. Continuous Line Contour
3. Modified Contour
4. cross-contour
• Blind contour:

blind contour so named because

you do not look at the paper
as you draw. You look only at the
subject.
-You draw slowly, centering your
vision on each section of the
subject to be drawn, studying
one section at a time.
• Continuous line contour:

In this type of line study, the

pencil will never leave the page.
The artists eye may go back
and forth between object and
drawing.
-The continuous line drawing is
unbroken from beginning to
end.
• Modified Contour:
You have to Look at object
more than you
look at paper. You Can lift the pencil and you can make
Edits.

• Cross Contour
In this type of drawing lines no longer define the edges of a
form; rather, they cut across the form. Imagine an insect with
paint on its feet crawling over a surface leaving tracks that
move in and out of the crevices of the form.
