IITD 2
General design feature
• Material is processed while it is in free flight
• The striking elements are widely spaced
• There is no undue compression to the material as it is undergoes processing
• The opening efficiency of these machines are poor/ mild
• Cleaning efficiency is excellent
• The opening/ cleaning element is housed within a cylindrical low pressure
chamber so that
• dust can’t escape the chamber as air pressure is more outside
• housing provides safety to the operators
• tufts thrown by centrifugal force of the beating elements remain within the chamber

IITD 3
SRRL Cleaner / step cleaner
Design feature
• Consists of a series of drums with 4 rows of striking elements (fingers) arranged in an inclined
plane
• Grid bars cover lower 25% part of individual drum chamber
• Baffle plates prevent from creating circular air current by deflecting the air generated by the
rotating drums.
• Drums are enclosed in a rectangular chamber

Design feature
• Two drums are mounted parallel to each other within a
rectangular chamber
B A
• Drum surface is riveted with 6 / 8 rows of striking
elements ( fingers 10 cm) projecting out perpendicularly
• Spikes are arranged in spiral on drum surface
Trash particles • The lower surface of the drum is covered by a series of
grid bars
Technical data
Drum diameter = 40 – 60 cm • There are inlet and outlet to the machine.
Length of strikers = 10cm • Adjustable guide avoid circulation of tufts
Rotational speed = 400 rpm
• Dead air space below the machine for trash
Air velocity : Inlet & outlet :
= 1200 ft/ min ( 365 m/min or 6.1 m/s)
accumulation
Surface speed at striker tip = 760 m/min • Machine is connected to suction pump
Production rate = 500Kg/h

IITD 9
Uniclean Material Material
Exit Entry
Waste
Working principle
• It is a cleaning and de-dusting machine for all types of cotton.
• Impurities are gently treated and effectively removed.
Baffle plate

Perforated plate
Method of operation
• The material enters via pipe Beater
• The baffle plates guide the tufts in a spiral several times over the
beater
• The beater acts on the tufts in suspended state Grid

• The waste is removed periodically via the stripper roller through Waste
the pipe at regular interval determined by the pneumatic waste
transport system.
Stripper
• The cleaned material is drawn off and transported to the next
machine
• Part of the incoming transport air is drawn off via the perforated plate
