Introduction
This paper investigates dynamic modeling, design and control strategy of
a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV)/wind hybrid power system. The
hybrid power system consists of PV station and wind farm that are
integrated through main AC-bus to enhance the system performance. The
hybrid power system operates at unity power factor since the injected
current to the electrical grid is in phase with the grid voltage. The control
strategy successfully maintains the grid voltage constant irrespective of
the variations of environmental conditions and the injected power from
the hybrid power system.
Hybrid energy system
● It is convenient to keep more than one storage system to
minimize the variation of power as well as the storage systems
provide high energy density.
● The hybrid energy system (HESs) consists of PV, wind energy
(WT) and fuel cell (FC) gives the better energy management
strategies .
● A HES containing an individual AC grid as well as a DC grid .
● Hybrid Energy System increases the quality of power
management of the grid .
Wind energy
● Renewable source of energy.
● Low operating costs.
● Efficient use of land space.
● Doesn’t disrupt farmland
operations.
● Reduces Our Dependence of
Fossil Fuels.
Solar Energy
● Solar energy is present on the
earth continuously.
● Affordable in cost.
● Depends on weather condition
● Greater efficiency
● Made up of semiconductor
materials.
LITERATURE REVIEW
● To generate most power to the utility grid maximum power
point of the pv array should be tracked.
● Battery can be charged or discharge to maintain power balance
between PV generation and demand improve stability of entire
system.
● When short circuit fault in line, voltage, current and power ac
grid fluctuate.DC converter in BESS can control dc bus voltage
to be constant,dc side of system not be affected during fault
period reduce the impact of fault on pv system.
LITERATURE REVIEW
● At steady state all distributed generation units operate stably and provide
power for loads - help support voltage & ensure local loads have sufficient
power.
● If wind speed is less than the nominal value pitch angle control system
adjusts pitch angle to extract maximum wind power .If wind speed is
larger than the nominal value limits the output power to protect the device.
● When PV and fuel cell generation insufficient to meet the load demand-
ultracapacitor will discharge to make up the difference. For that AC grid is
unaffected by DC microgrid disturbance- stability of the system improved.
● During 3 phase fault the bi-directional converter in ultra capacitor
controlled to maintain DC bus voltage constant, thus system stabilises
during transient disturbance.
LITERATURE REVIEW
● In this paper the power management strategy and overall control
strategies are given.
● Excess power of PV power was not sufficient to fulfill the load
requirements, for that Solid Oxide Fuel Cell fulfill required by
hydrogen as fuel & also amount of fuel consumed by SOFC
determined by PID controller.
● The hybrid energy system was connected to the grid help of
Voltage Source Converter for the better performance.
Objective & Motivation

● To tap into the vast reserves of renewable energy sources.

● Improve the efficiency and reliability of the existing systems.
● Reduce the cost of generation and operation of existing system.
● We will combine two renewable energy sources, in our case
solar energy and wind energy to create the hybrid system.
● We want to address the shortcomings of the current systems.

Future Plan of Work
● Improve the harmonics of the system.
● Introduction of a protection system which isolates the grid in
case of instability or disturbance and supply power only to the
local grid.
● Improve the efficiency of operation.
● Reduce the overall cost of power generation.
● Implementation over a larger area.
Conclusion
This presentation concluded overall description as well as provides
the information about the proposed technology. A brief model and
controlling strategy of the system equipments are given and the
general strategy of work regarding this topic has also been
discussed in this presentation .
