A Trip to the Forest

By Lisa Hemphill, Jianna Xiong, and

Natalie Edwards
Three good friends, Moe, Joe, and Bo,
Wanted to find a place to go.
Said Joe, "I am quite bored today."
Said Bo, "To the forest! It's right this way!"

"Oh no!" cried Moe, "We'll surely get lost!
Adventure is just not worth the cost."
"Lighten up!" said Joe, "Let's have some fun!
We'll return before the day is done."
So Joe and Bo sprinted, fun on their minds,
While Moe unhappily straggled behind.
After a while, they reached a tall tree.
Cried Bo, "Let's climb up and see what we can see!"
"Oh no!" cried Moe, "You will surely fall!
You'll hurt yourselves and start to bawl."
Ignoring him, Bo jumped up from the roots,
With Joe close behind in hot pursuit.
"Climb up!" cried Joe, "The view is swell!"
But then a branch snapped, and down they fell.
And so they landed on their tushes
And crawled from a small cluster of bushes.
"What fun!" cried Bo, not a tear in his eye.
"I guess," said Joe, stifling a cry.
And they came upon a stream.
"Let's go across!" eager Bo screamed.
"Oh no!" yelled Moe, "You'll surely drown!
The current is strong and will drag you down!"
"Oh hush!" said Joe, "We'll be all right."
So Bo and Joe swam while Moe cowered in fright.
But the current picked up and washed them
away,
and Moe ran after to make sure they were okay.
Joe, climbing out on the opposite shore,
Whimpered, "I don't want to swim anymore.“
Then Bo replied, "I had a ton of fun!
Now we can rest and dry off in the sun."
Laying out on the rocks, they soon fell asleep.
And as the sun fell, darkness started to creep...
They awoke to a bear cub sniffing their feet,
Searching for something scrumptious to eat.
Whispered Moe,"Let's leave now and go far away!
I've had quite enough adventure for one day."
"No, no," yelled Bo, "Let's have a lark!
Let's chase him around till the sky gets dark."
Joe thought, then agreed, "That sounds pretty good,
maybe one last game while we're still in the wood."
So Joe and Bo happily chased the cub around,
while Moe hid by a rock, not making a sound.
Sooner or later, they came to a cave,
And soon Joe began feeling less and less brave...
And out of its home strode the great mama bear,
Giving the adventurers quite a big scare.
She snarled and let out a deafening roar,
So the boys ran away, adventurers no more.
Running and screaming, they came to their house,
Each one of them shivering, scared as a mouse.
They laid down to sleep in their warm, cozy beds,
And at last they were able to rest their heads.
In the morning, they woke to a beautiful day,
And each boy was extremely eager to play.
"Let's go to the forest again!" cried Bo.
But Joe, done with adventure, screamed, "NO!"
