Hello everyone! For today’s presentation we’re going to talk or explain about
how we used four three types of cutting tools in
dressmaking, and here are the tools:

• CUTTING SHEARS
This Cutting Shears is a 7- to 8-inch-long.

The simple used of this scissor is for cutting fabic.

This will be one of your most used and important


cutting tools for sewing or dressmaking.

• TRIMMING SCISSORS

are 6-inch-long scissors.


It used to trim and clip seams and
cut thread ends.

Sewing scissors are also referred


to as trimming scissors.

• PINKING SHEARS
are scissors with zigzag
blades.
It used to finish hem edges
and seams.
Before pinking scissors were invented, a pinking punch or
pinking iron was used to punch out a decorative hem on a
garment.

• SEAM RIPPER
is a handy tool.
It used to take out seams and
remove unwanted stitches in
case of sewing error.

The head is usually forked with a cutting surface situated


at the base of the fork. In some designs, one side of the
fork tapers to a sharp point to allow easier insertion in
tight stitching.
CAUTION

Cutting Tools have sharp blades that may


injure a person, which is why they have
to be handled carefully.
