• Starbucks Corporation, headquartered in Seattle, Washington, is an American global coffeehouse and roastery
business.
• Starbucks, as the world's largest coffeehouse chain, is seen as a prominent symbol of America's second wave of
coffee culture.  
• The company had 32,660 outlets in 83 countries as of September 2020, comprising 16,637 company-operated
stores and 16,023 licensed stores. 
• There were 18,354 stores in the United States, Canada, and Latin America out of the total of 32,660.  
• Hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, micro-ground instant coffee, espresso, caffe latte, full and loose-
leaf teas, juices, Frappuccino beverages, pastries, and more are available in Starbucks stores
HISTORY

• Starbucks originally opened its doors in 1971 in Seattle, Washington, in the heart of Pike Place Market, this
moniker and the mermaid emblem were inspired by a love of the water.
• Howard Schultz, CEO, saw an opportunity in 1981 and began working with the company's founder, Jerry
Baldwin and discovered a potential to transfer the café community vibe he found in Italy to the United States
during a trip to Italy to find new items, and the Starbuck's brand we know today began to take shape.
