RECONCILIATION
RECONCILIATION

- Jesus instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation after His resurrection when


He said: “As the Father sent me, so I am sending you. Receive the Holy Spirit.
For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you
retain, they are retained” (John 20:22-23)
RECONCILIATION

- We all need the Sacrament of Reconciliation because of our sinful nature.

- Jesus used the Parable of the Prodigal Son to explain the boundless mercy of
God.

B. Requirements of Reconciliation
• Every Christian Catholic can receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation

• Those who are excommunicated can be absolved only Pope, Bishop, and
priest appointed by them.

• We must go to confession every time we commit mortal sin.

• The Minister: Bishop or Priest

• The Matter: The confession of sin. After the sins are confessed, the penitent
has said the Act of Contrition, and the priests give the absolution.

• The Form: I absolve you from sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

- Jesus instituted the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick when He said to
the apostles: “They will lay their hands on the sick who will recover” (Mark
16:18)
ANOINTING OF THE SICK

- Jesus came to heal the sick in the body and in the spirit.

- The Church continues the mission of Jesus to heal from any sickness of the
spirit and of the body through the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

The Graces of the Anointing of the Sick

- Unites the sick person with the passion of Jesus


- Gives him comfort, peace, and strength and endure the distress of sickness and
of the old age.
- Forgives all his sins if the sick if the sick could not receive the sacrament of
reconciliation.
- Helps recover his health, if it is good for his salvation; or prepares him for a
good death
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Requirements for the Anointing of the Sick

- The Anointing of the Sick can received by a Catholic who is in danger of


death because of sickness or old age or potentially dangerous surgical
operation.
- We have the duty to call the priest on time because it is useless if the sick
person is already dead.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
• The Minister: Bishop or Priest

• The Matter: Blessed oil

• The Form: Through this Holy Anointing, may the Lord in his love and mercy
help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from
sin save you and raise you up.
