Subordination
Subordination
- is used to combine ideas that are not of
equal importance. In subordination, one
idea is dependent on the other.
To use subordination to show relationship between unequal ideas, you
can:
1. Use relative pronouns or subordinating conjunctions to introduce
the dependent clause.
Jennifer and Mai had already put out the fire when the
firemen arrive at the dorm.
Because Amy left the iron on, the dorm's obsolete wiring
melted and started a fire.
Ex:
Martin Luther King, Jr., the popular civil rights activist, was
murdered.
Ex:
Romeo tripped and fell. He was not paying attention to where
he was going.
Not reviewing for her exam, Nichole got the lowest score.
