Math is very useful in everyday life.

Math can help us do many things that are important in our everyday lives. Here are some daily tasks
for which math is important:

Managing money $$$

Balancing the checkbook
Shopping for the best price
Preparing food
Figuring out distance, time and cost for travel
Understanding loans for cars, trucks, homes, schooling or other purposes
Understanding sports (being a player and team statistics)
Playing music
Baking
Home decorating
Sewing
• Gardening and landscaping
Do you need mathematics every day?

• Yes, we need mathematics every day. Whether we calculate our

weekly budget, go grocery shopping, or drive our car, math is present
in our everyday life. It helps us to make better decisions based on
logical and analytical thinking and to manage every day.
Can we live without mathematics?
• Of course, mathematics is not as essential for our lives as food, water,
and the air is. However, it confronts us in everyday life. Not only is
math present in shops but also in television and video games. Just
think about the weather forecast. Without mathematical concepts
one could not predict the weather for the next few days.
Why is mathematics so important?
• Mathematics is important because it helps us to structure and
manage everyday life. We need it for our time management as well as
for budget planning. But also companies need mathematical concepts
in order to maximize their profit and to grow. And if companies would
not grow, many people would not have a job and, therefore, no
income.
Shopping

Your teen will use math when buying different items. When
buying a new computer, your child will need to figure out
which store offers the best price or best financing. Math is
useful in finding the best deal for food items. For example,
your teen will need to decide which pack of soda to buy when
given a choice of 20 oz., 2-liter, 12 pack, or 24-pack. Stores
often have sales that give a percentage off an original price. It
is helpful for people to know how to figure out the savings.
This math skill is very useful because it helps us calculate
discounts so we can buy an item for the best price offered.

Recreational Sports
• Geometry and trigonometry
can help your teens who
want to improve their skill in
sports. It can help them find
the best way to hit a ball,
make a basket or run around
the track. Basic knowledge of
math also helps keep track of
sports scores.
Construction Purpose
• You know what, maths is the basis of
any construction work. A lot of
calculations, preparations of budgets,
setting targets, estimating the cost,
etc., are all done based on maths. If
you don’t believe, ask any contractor
or construction worker, and they will
explain as to how important maths is
for carrying out all the construction
work.
Driving
• When driving a car we always see signs
at the sight of the road indicating a
certain speed. Furthermore, in order to
arrive in time, we need to calculate
time, distance, and speed. Math can
help us to plan our trip and to always
arrive in time. Furthermore, it prevents
us from getting a speeding ticket.
Automobiles Industry
• The different car manufacturing companies produce cars based
on the demands of the customers. Every company has its
category of cars ranging from microcars to luxuries SUVs. In
such companies, basic mathematical operations are being
applied to gain knowledge about the different demands of the
customers.
Animation design:
Mathematics is commonly used in animation. This allows the animator
to discover the unknown from a simple set of equations and to
extrapolate aspects of geometric figures when you are working with
objects that move and change.
• The animation designer uses linear algebra to show how the drawings
are animated and converted, and also zoomed in and out.
Time management
management skills

• Time management does not only involve reading an annual clock but
also planning one’s day accordingly. For most of us, time is a limiting
factor and we need to fulfill several tasks within a couple of hours.
Mathematical concepts help us to manage our day to finish all of our
tasks.
Stitching
• Just home decorating, math is also an essential concept of fashion
designing. From taking measurements, estimating the quantity and
quality of clothes, choosing the color theme, estimating the cost and
profit, to produce cloth according to the needs and tastes of the
customers, math is followed at every stage.
Conclusion
• Math is a tool in our hands to make our life smoother. The more
mathematical we are in our approach, the more rational would be our
thoughts. It’s time to understand the importance of the subject and
enjoy the beauty of it. Math is a medium that should be embraced by
everyone in all our walks of life.
