EDMODO

RAEGAN SOLES
WHAT IS EDMODO?
• Edmodo is a learning and educational resource that connects teachers, students,
and parents through an app comparable to a social media network.
• “Edmodo connects all learners with the people and resources needed to reach their
full potential.”
• On Edmodo, teachers can create online collaborative groups, provide classroom
materials, measure student performance, and communicate with parents along
with many other resources.
• Edmodo is free to everyone and all you have to do is simply sign up for an
account.
TOOLS

•For Teachers:
•With tools like Posts and Messages, teachers are able to have meaningful conversations and offer help to students outside of the
classroom.
•Teachers can create online assignments and quizzes through Edmodo instead of the typical pencil, paperwork.
•Teachers can also access the Discover and Spotlight pages along with following hashtags to seek inspiration from other teachers
who are using Edmodo.
•For Students:
•Edmodo automatically organizes students’ work with class folders and the built-in planner feature.
•If students have any questions after class time, they can easily access their teacher and get their question answered automatically.
•Activities, games, and the Discover page are all accessible to students so they can find topics interesting and unique to them.
•For Parents:
•Parents can access assignment and quiz scores as soon as the teacher grades them.
•Parents can always keep in touch with their child’s teacher by sending them a direct message or following the class updates.
•Parents can easily keep track of their child’s progress throughout the school year.
INTEGRATION INTO THE CLASSROOM

• Edmodo is a conventional web tool that could be very useful in my classroom and I could incorporate it
into my lesson plans with a variety of opportunities.
• If I were to teach upper elementary grades such as 3rd-5th grade, I could assign online assignments and
quizzes if I were to ever be absent and the students could still have assignments to work on without me
being present. Edmodo also would give students the opportunity to direct message me or post in the
classroom chat any questions or concerns that they had, and I would have access to answer them right
away and not wait until the next in-class period.
• For lower elementary grades such as Kindergarten-2nd grade, having an Edmodo class would be best to
send out class updates to keep parents in touch and allow parents to directly message me if they had any
questions or concerns about their child.
