B. Discuss. How do you describe your own classroom? Explain your practices in relation to
the key aspects of teaching.
Key Aspect How I do it in my class
Focus Since my subject is Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, I focus more on
learner-centered activities that will help them stimulate their critical
thinking, creativity, higher order thinking skills, decision making
skills that are very useful in understanding their current life
situation and also what is happening around them. By helping them
to understand on how and when to use these skills will help them
prepare the realities of the world and how they can respond to it.
Control I always try to establish a positive learning environment encourages
healthy and helpful atmosphere among students. When they feel
that the environment fosters collaboration, interdependent learning,
acceptance and understanding, where they can freely express
themselves without having to fear of making mistakes, they feel
more at ease to study and learn.
Grading Grades are indicators of students’ academic performance and help
us identify those learners who need assistance. But grades should
not be the end goal. I often tell my students that grades are just
numbers, what’s most important in my class is that they are able to
apply what they have learned. Since my subject is Edukasyon sa
Pagpapakatao, what I want to see more from them is not the high
grades, but how they behave in class, how they relate with their
classmates and peers, how they treat their teachers and other
people.
Teacher’s Role As a teacher, I make myself adept in the use of technology on how
we can use them in our lessons, be able to employ different teaching
strategies that will foster collaboration among learners and also self-
independence where a learner can rely on his/her own skills. At
this point in time, I see myself as a facilitator of learning, where I
make sure that there is a learning atmosphere and I serve as a guide
to the learners in acquiring the skills that they really need. I am
responsible in imparting skills and knowledge that will equip them
with lifelong learning, I always try to provide authentic learning in
the classroom that will help the learners to link/connect the skills
they acquired in my subject into real-life situations.
