Direction: Find a partner and answer the following question in a separate sheet of
paper.

1. Many teachers are teaching subject and courses that are not there are of expertise.
What are the effects of this practice in Philippine education?

On my own opinion, there is no wrong on this problem. As we see, teachers are

very flexible wherein no matter how far their assigned destination to teach and no
matter what subject they teach. They still capable on doing the certain tasks that should
be done on the subject matter. And based on what I seeing and noticing, many of
teachers in high school, they teaching the subjects that weren’t their subject expertise.
But they are still doing their best, they excel on that subject, and making themselves to
be capable and flexible at any cause just to teach their students. And the effects of this
practice in Philippine education is that it will be an inspiration and stepping-stone to
have a flexible teaching styles of a teacher.

2. In senior high school, some teachers do not have units in education. Do you think that
this will affect their teaching competencies? Explain your answer.

Having no unit in education does not mean that a teacher are not capable on
teaching or influencing someone. During my high school days, as I saw some teacher
have not units in education. But they have specific and special role on that school that
contribute to promote the school as well as the students. And do not judge a book by its
cover, we do not even that they were master on their role on that school.

3. How can teachers improve their content knowledge?

The teachers can somehow improve their content knowledge by making

connections to your students as well as to your co-teachers. Because, rather than
teaching isolated concepts, teacher should build good relationship or connection to

his/her surroundings. And lastly, as a teacher never stop on learning. Even if your
confident in your content knowledge, at least try to read some related articles or books
that are related to your topic for advancing and sharping your knowledge.

3. How can teachers improve their pedagogical knowledge?

Teachers can try new ways of exploring how the students are thinking about the
concepts being taught. Ask students about how and what they understand. And lastly,
start discussions with other teachers about teaching. Take the time to find someone you
can share ideas with and take the time to learn to trust each other.

5. What are teaching strategies that will develop critical and creative thinking among
students?

The teaching strategies that will develop critical and creative thinking among
students by encouraging them to explore, be curious, come up with questions and
investigate how things work. asking them to think of different ways to solve problems.
providing choices of activities that involve planning and decision making

6. What do you think are the important content knowledge and pedagogical skills that a
teacher should possess to effectively teach Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual
Education?

The important content knowledge and pedagogical skills that teachers should
possess to be effective on teaching Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education is
being able, capable, and flexible on teaching, understanding, and translating the mother
tongue of his/her students to our lingua franca.

you have a letter asking the permission of the school principal for you to observe some
of their classes. Assure the principal and the teacher whom you will observe that the

not favoritism in terms of learning inside
the classroom. They giving all of their
attentions fairly to their learners.

activities of the classroom are well manage as well
as their activities that promotes fairness in
learning and that promotes on enhancing
and developing the learners’ abilities,
skills, and talents.

encourage, support, and sometimes

effective and active participation of the
learners.

encouraging and supporting learners.
