Writing as a Skill
• Writing skills are an important part of
communication. Good writing skills allow you to
communicate your message with clarity and ease
to a far larger audience than through face-to-
face or telephone conversations.
Writing as a Process
• This process is often treated as a linear one
that, if followed step by step, will lead to a
successfully written product. Although some
writers may write this way, most devise their
own ways of generating ideas and writing,
usually from their own experiences of what
works for them.

• Spatial – location based
• Comparison-Contrast – similarities and differences
• Problem-Solution – presenting a problem and
