Computer history and development.

Generation in computer terminology is a change in technology a computer is/was being

used. Initially, the generation term was used to distinguish between varying hardware
technologies. Nowadays, generation includes both hardware and software, which together
make up an entire computer system.
There are five computer generations known till date. Each generation has been discussed in
detail along with their time period and characteristics. In the following table, approximate
dates against each generation has been mentioned, which are normally accepted.
Information and IT
Information technologies(IT) are processes using a set of means and
methods of collecting, processing, accumulating and transmitting data to
obtain new quality information about the state of an object, process,
phenomenon, information product, as well as the dissemination of
information and ways of implementing such processes and methods.
 Information storage

Information storage is a part of a computer, a physical device or a data storage

medium used in computing systems for a certain time.

In personal computers, "memory" is often referred to as one of its types - dynamic

random access memory (DRAM), which is used as the RAM of a personal computer.
Units of information
Units of information are used to measure various characteristics related to information. Most often, information
measurement concerns measuring the capacity of computer memory and measuring the amount of data transmitted
over digital communication channels.
