Breakdown maintenance
Repairing equipment if it breaks down or stops
functioning
Involves performing activities to repair machine
breakdowns or malfunction, then carrying out
subsequent repairs on an emergency or priority basis

Preventive maintenance
Maintenance on a daily or regular basis, designed to
maintain the pristine condition of equipment and
prevent a failure through deterioration prevention,
periodic inspections or equipment condition diagnosis
to measure impairment

steps):
1. Calculating the probability of breakdown.
2. Calculating the expected number of breakdowns per
day/week/month.
3. Determining the costs of breakdown maintenance.

5. Comparing the costs and making a decision.
6. Calculating the savings.
