What to Expect
• Hours: 9 to 5 with an hour for lunch
& breaks as needed.
(this is negotiable)
• Daily plan: Lots of VTScada,
not much PowerPoint.
(we’ll learn by doing)

Licensing
• A Development License includes:
– Version Control
– ODBC Server
– WEB Services
– OPC Server
• Optional items:
– Remote Configuration
– Redundancy & Server Capability
– # of VIC & MIC connections
– Upgrade period
Tag Counts
• Your licence sets the maximum # of tags
allowed.
• Only I/O & custom-coded tags count.
• Drivers, alarms, loggers, calculations, etc. are
free.
• Certain compound tags (Stations) may contain
lots of I/O tags.

Installation
• Only one install file. The separate version for
the Alarm Notification System is gone.
• Choose 64-bit in most cases(*).
• Do not install as a service until after creating
an application, configuring it to auto-start and
enabling VIC connections.
After Installation...
• Create tags for the communication chain.
• Create I/O tags.
• Build the user interface.
• Look for time savings in the development process.
(Custom tags types, widgets, automation)
• Logging & Reporting.
• Alarms.
• Security.
• Network access.
Upgrading?
• Always read the chapter, Moving to the
Current Version, before running your legacy
application in a new version of VTScada

Version 11.2 New Features
• Completely new Alarm System
– New alarm list with more information.
– Draw alarm lists on any page.
– Tools allow you to be 100% ISA 18.2 compatible.
– New alarm priority symbols
– Silence and Mute are operator-actions. Can be set
to expire.
– Alarm Disable is a configuration option. May be
tied to process status.

– View alarm history, statistics & reports.
– Alarm history stored using VTScada Historians
with UTC timestamps.
– Client-side data storage available.
– Alarms can have an off-delay as well as an on-
delay.
