 Basic Terminologies

• Plumbing- It refers to the water supply and drainage of waste

water sewage.
 Basic Terminologies

• Water distribution system- It refers to the supply pipes that carry

fresh water under pressure from a public water supply or individual
wells to fixtures.
 Basic Terminologies

•Pipe-is a tubular section or hollow cylinder, usually but not

necessarily of circular cross-section, used mainly to convey
substances which can flow liquids and gases.
 Basic Terminologies

• Fitting or adapter- It is used in plumbing systems to connect

straight sections of pipe or tube
 Basic Terminologies

• Cast iron pipe- High-quality sanitary waste drain pipe that is heavy
and hard used for waste water to flow very well. Large-diameter
heavy metal pipe, dull black with a rough surface.

• PVC pipe- It is a strong, chemical-resistant rigid pipe that is heat

resistant and easily cut and fit. White rigid plastic.
 Basic Terminologies

• Copper pipe- is often used where the appearance of exposed water

supply lines is important. Bright, shiny chrome finished pipe of
smaller diameter (3/8” or less).

• Galvanized iron pipe- it becomes popular method of plumbing

water supply lines in most homes in the philippines, but it gradually
fails due to corrosion and rust. Dull silver-gray rigid metal pipe.
