Human Illusions of Time and Existence I will be focusing my project on anxieties surrounding time, and what it means to exist. I will look at lesser-known emotions and how common is to feel them.
I believe that this project will challenge me to step out of my usual
photographic boundaries, looking at new styles and ideas within the art form throughout. I hope to be able to educate the reader visually on what these feelings mean. I will be exploring what it means to feel these things, and how normal it is to be uncertain, documenting it with photographs.
I will need to consider the groups of people I will be approaching for
photographs, and if any of the questions I wish to ask could be in any way harmful. For instance, questions regarding feelings of existential dread and challenging emotions could be difficult for some to talk about. My research will be based mostly around ‘The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows’, using terms from the book to support my research and ideas. I will also use YouTube and Google to find other artists and inspiration throughout.
My project will be formatted as a photobook or zine. This will be split
into four sections, detailing potential interviews or pieces of text, accompanied by photographs. My project will appeal mostly at young people. I believe that the topics I cover will most interest people of a similar age to me, but not be limited to them only. It is quite a universal topic, with no real set target audience. It is for anyone that feels human emotion and can connect with the emotions covered.
I will be experimenting with different photographic styles throughout,
