• Youngest child of three/Pittsburgh • Graduated college with B.A. in Fine Arts
• Moved to NY to pursue career as commercial artist
• Age 8- Diagnosed (St. Vitus Dance): • He dropped the “A” at end of his last name

Disease of nervous system –bed ridden • Worked for: Glamour magazine, Tiffany +
Company, Columbia Records
for months.
• Became one of the most successful commercial
• Coped by drawing, watching movies, artists of the 50’s
reading celebrity magazines + DC comic
books, + photography.

replied,

“I wanted to paint nothing. I was looking for something that


was the essence of nothing, and that was it”

• Turned herself in
• 3 years in prison.

• Did not recover completely.
• Died in 1987/heart attack after having a gall bladder removed.
