Eros was the love god. He could use his
magical bow and arrow to make people
fall in love with each other.

“golden arrow with a sharp glistening point”

Daphne
Daphne was a free-spirited nymph who rejected
the idea of marriage for a life of simple
pleasures. Daphne was a Naiad Nymph and was
the daughter of a river god “Peneus”.

Apollo’s Love &
Daphne’s Disgust:
Apollo’s love for Daphne was so strong that the
god of prophecy was unable to foretell his future
but still, his emotions were uncontrollable.

Daphne’s Rejections
The god kept begging Daphne to stop. He tried
to explain that he posed no threat to her and that
his intentions were good.

Chasing Daphne
The chase continued as Apollo became
increasingly paranoid.

Daphne’s Cry for Help

Daphne was helped by
Peneus.
Peneus helped his daughter who was now firmly
in the hands of Apollo. Daphne started
transforming into a tree. Her hair became leaves,
her arms branches, and her legs roots.

The love of Apollo
never dies.
Apollo's love for Daphne did not fade after her
transformation. The god took the tree's leaves in
his hands and kissed the tree's wood.
He then whispered:
