Parking
The restaurant is located in the heart of Midtown, Atlanta therefore parking can be limited. There are paid
lots and metered parking available. What makes Steamhouse great is that the offer valet parking for only
$2. This is very rare for the area.
Atmosphere and Décor
Steamhouse has a very laid back atmosphere and the décor goes with it. One feels as though they are
entering a beach bar/restaurant.
Inside decorated for Halloween.
Host Station
The host station is located right inside the front door. There is also a host station located on the outside
patio. Majority of the time the restaurant is seat yourself both inside and outside. However, during an
evening rush they do have someone seating patrons. During slow periods when customers arrive, they are
instructed to seat themselves by either a server passing or the bartender on staff.
Outside waiting area.
Waiting Time
I have been to Steamhouse dozens of times and I have never had to wait more than five minutes for a table.
The restaurant stays busy, but they have ample seating. There is inside seating both downstairs and
upstairs. There is a deck upstairs with several tables and a large patio facing the street that has roughly
eight tables. There are only two to three months out of the year when Atlanta is too cold for outdoor
seating.
Health Rating
The health rating was a 96. Points were deducted for utensils/linens not being properly stored, dried,
handled.
Cleanliness of the Environment
Steamhouse is usually a very clean restaurant. When first arriving, one might think the establishment
looks rundown. It’s true the building is aged, but the inside is always clean.
Cleanliness of the Silverware

In my experience, silverware, glasses, and plates are always clean at Steamhouse.

Service
Our server’s name was John. He has waited on us before. He is extremely friendly and prompt taking your
drink and food order. He offers suggestions if you are uncertain of your choice. He continually checks on
your table to make sure you have everything you need.
Food and Beverages
Having lived in Atlanta my entire life, I can honestly say that Steamhouse has the best seafood in the city.
They are known for their raw oysters (the establishment hosts Oyster Fest each year), lobster roll, and
lobster bisque. In addition to these staples, they have seafood nachos with shrimp and scallops, fried
grouper fingers, calamari, crab legs, crab cakes, crab stuffed shrimp, crab stuffed grouper, crab cake melts,
tuna melts, and so much more. For those who don’t like seafood, they have hot dogs and hamburgers
available to order.

For drinks, they serve coke products and sweet tea of course. They have a full bar and offer a couple of
specialty rum drinks which give off a beach vibe. Their drinks are good, but the food is what keeps people
coming back.

Prices
Another great thing about Steamhouse is the price point. It is extremely affordable. The most expensive
item on the menu does not exceed $30. It is a huge bargain compared to a lot of seafood restaurants in
town.
Restrooms
The restrooms are clean. There are single stall men and woman’s restrooms located both upstairs and
downstairs.
Pros
● Large Menu

● Delicious Food

● Friendly Service
Cons
● The location can be difficult to find if you aren’t from the area

● The alcoholic beverages are just average

● They are difficult to reach over the phone to place to-go orders. (This could have more to do with the
ongoing labor shortage than lack of effort)
Overall Evaluation
This is the restaurant I tell everyone visiting Atlanta they must try. It is unpretentious, affordable, and most
importantly the food is amazing. It is conveniently located in Midtown Atlanta, only a short walk to Georgia
Tech, the Fox Theatre, and the High Museum of Art. The staff is always friendly and attentive even when the
restaurant is experiencing a rush. While a majority of the menu is seafood, they do have options for those
who do not like seafood. If you are driving, it can be tricky to find on your first trip but is easy to get to once
you have been there before. The valet parking is such a nice perk.

Overall, I give Steamhouse five stars.
