Exploratory Research Design
Exploratory Research involves collecting information in order to provide insight into
problem and identify courses of action. Research findings are not subject to
quantitative analysis. In general exploratory research is meaningful in any situation
where researcher does not have any understanding on how to proceed with the
research project. Exploratory research is characterized by flexibility and versatility
with respect to the methods because formal research protocol and procedures are not
employed. This research is usually conducted during the initial stage of the
research process.

Exploratory Research Techniques
Techniques for conducting research:-
1) Secondary Data Analysis
Secondary data are data previously collected & assembled for some project other than the
one at hand. Can be presented in easier and inexpensive way.
• Case study- is intricately designed and reveals a complete presentation of facts as they
occur in single entity. It is focused on the single unit of analysis. This unit can be
customers, organization or employee.

2) Expert Opinion survey- is conducted when no previous information or data is

available on the topic of research. This method can be structured and formal (when
supported by secondary data) and need to loose and informal when secondary data is not
available.
