TRANSMITTER

- PREETHESH
TRANSMITTER:
 Transmitter is a collection of electronic components and circuits that converts electrical signal into a
signal suitable for transmission over a given medium.
 Transmitter are made up of oscillators , amplifiers, tuned circuits and filters ,modulators frequency
mixers and other circuits.
 The baseband signal, s(t), which is the output of an input transducer, is input to the transmitter. The
transmitter section processes the signal prior to transmission.
 The processing carried out for signal transmission in the analog form is different from signal
transmission in the digital form.
 The following two options are available for processing signals prior transmission:
1. The baseband signal, which lies in the low frequency spectrum, is translated to a higher frequency
spectrum - a carrier communication system.

2. The baseband signal is transmitted without translating it to a higher frequency

spectrum-a baseband communication system.
PROCESS TRANSMITTER

 the general configuration of a measurement transducer consists of a sensing

element combined with a driving element (transmitter).
 The sensing element is required to convert the measured quantity, that is, the
process variable, into some quantity more appropriate for mechanical or
electrical processing within the transducer.
ELECTRONIC TRANSMITTER:

• Analog transmitters
• Digital transmitters
• Analog - Digital/hybrid (SMART) transmitters
Analog Transmitter:
 Analog transmitters convert the process variable measured
into an equivalent electrical signal voltage or current.

Digital Transmitter:
 Types of digital transmitter
 Pulse Transmission
 Switch/contact – closure –digital transmission
 Serial data transmission
• A transmitter can be a separate piece of electronic equipment, or an electrical circuit within
another electronic device.
• A transmitter and a receiver combined in one unit is called a transceiver.
• Transmitters are necessary component parts of all electronic devices that communicate by
radio, such as radio and television broadcasting stations, cell phones, walkie-talkies, wireless
computer networks, Bluetooth enabled devices, garage door openers, two-way radios in
aircraft, ships, spacecraft, radar sets.
• The information is provided to the transmitter in the form of an electronic signal, such as an
audio (sound) signal from a microphone, a video (TV) signal from a video camera, or in
wireless networking devices, a digital signal from a computer.
• The transmitter combines the information signal to be carried with the radio frequency signal
which generates the radio waves, which is called the carrier signal. This process is called
modulation.
• The information can be addded to carrier Ian several different ways ,in different types of
transmitters:
Amplitude modulation (AM) transmitter, frequency modulation (FM) transmitter. Many
other types of modulation are also used....
