FUNCTIONING
The Borsa Istanbul 100 Index is a measure of the stock
market's performance in Istanbul. The XU100 is a prominent
stock market index that monitors the performance of 100
businesses from The Istanbul Stock Exchange's National
Market, real estate investment trusts, and venture capital
investment trusts. The index is capitalization-weighted. As of
January 1986, the XU100 has a base value of one.

9
FUNCTIONING
The CMB is in charge of regulating and overseeing
the public offering of securities in Turkish capital
markets. Special focus is placed in this framework
on guaranteeing accurate and thorough information
distribution in markets by establishing standards for
prospectuses, financial statements, and reports, as
well as auditing and announcement procedures. The
CMB also regulates corporate governance rules for
publicly owned firms as well as a variety of other
topics such as shelf registration.

10
ROLE OF STAKEHOLDERS
Borsa Istanbul's shareholders include the Turkish government, 41 percent
IMKB, 5 percent VOB, 4 percent IMKB members, 1 percent IMKB
brokers, and 0.3 percent IAB members. All of the government's shares are
expected to be put up for sale.
Legislators, policymakers, multilateral organisations, professional
organisations that define accounting and auditing standards, and, of course,
securities exchanges all have a part in defining the sustainable investment
climate.
Borsa Istanbul fulfils its goal in accordance with this commitment through
a variety of methods, including the supply of particularly developed
targeted goods and services, as well as participation in projects aimed at
increasing awareness and understanding.

11
ROLE OF REGULATORS
The primary regulators of Turkey's equities market are the Capital Markets
Board (CMB), Borsa Istanbul, the Central Registry Agency (Merkezi Kayt
Kuruluşu) (MKK), and Istanbul Clearing, Settlement and Custody Bank A.
(Takasbank).

The Capital Markets Board of Turkey (CMB) is the regulatory and

supervisory institution in charge of the Turkish securities markets, while
ISE offers the trading platform. The CMB has been formulating precise
laws for organising markets and developing capital market tools and
institutions in Turkey since 1981, when the Capital Markets Law (CML)
was implemented. The CMB has a wide variety of tasks, all of which are
based on the basic objectives of fair and orderly market functioning and
protecting investors' interests.
