Acute angled triangle
Obtuse angled triangle
Right angled triangle
To inscribe an equilateral triangle in a circle
• The following steps are taken
• Step 1: Draw a triangle with a given radius (50mm)
Step 2: With the radius of the circle (50mm),
mark 6 arcs on the circle as shown below.
Step 3: Label the points as A, B, ..., F as
shown below.
Step 4: Join A to C
Step 5: Join C to E as shown below
Step 6: Join E with A
To draw the circumscribed circle to a given
triangle.
A triangle ABC is such that AB = 60mm, BC = 80mm and AC = 75mm.
i. Construct the triangle,
ii. Draw a circumscribed circle.
To do this, the following steps are taken.
• Step 1: Draw line AB = 60mm
Step 2: With radius 80mm and centre B, draw
an arc as shown below
Step 3: With radius 75 and centre A, draw an
arc intersecting with the first one at C
Step 4: Join C with A and B
Step 5: With any radius (say 50mm) and centre B, draw an arc on either side of
the BC.
With the same radius and centre C, draw arcs intersecting with the first ones
Step 6: Join the two points of intersection
with a straight line
Step 7:Do the same on AC as shown below
Locate the point of intersection and label it as
D
Draw a circle with centre D and radius AD
To draw an inscribed circle to a given triangle
• A triangle XYZ is such that XY = 100mm, YZ = 80mm and XZ = 90mm.
i. Construct triangle XYZ,
ii. Draw an inscribed triangle.
To do this, the following steps are taken.
• Step 1: Draw line XY = 100mm
Step 2: With radius 80mm and centre Y, draw
an arc as shown below.
Step 3: With radius 90mm and centre X, draw
an arc intersecting with the first one at Z
Step 4: Join Z with X and Y
Step 5: With any radius, draw an arc on each
of XY and YZ
Step 6: From each of the points, draw arcs
intersecting as shown below
Step 7: Join the point of intersection with Y
as shown below
Step 8: With any radius, draw an arc on each
of XZ and XY
Step 9: From each of the points draw arcs intersecting
and join the point of the intersection to X as shown
Step 10: Locate the point of intersection and
label the point as D
Step 11: Draw a circle with centre D as
shown below
