Introduction
• Surge in Air pollution

• What is Direct Air Capture

• Why Direct Air Capture

• Current developments

3
Literature Review
• The ambient temperature of air would be around 30 – 40 ℃ considering weather conditions in India
hence, carbon removal efficiency grows with increase in temperature and concentration of carbon
dioxide in air.

• The reaction rate and capture efficiency are strongly dependent on the NaOH. concentration in the
Na2CO3 production range.

• After the reaction of Limewater and CO2 Calcium Carbonate is formed which is used in Food and
medical industries.

• Aqueous sorbents offer the advantage that the contactor can operate continuously

• Can be built using cheap cooling fan hardware.

UN SDG:

5
Problems:

Air Pollution Global Warming Deforestation Industrial impact

6
Solution:

“ By constructing a device that captures Carbon dioxide from

the ambient air to help tackle the climate change issue which
is mainly caused because of it”

7
Objectives:

 Fabrication of Carbon dioxide capturing device which uses aqueous

absorbers like Sodium Hydroxide, Limewater.

 Analysis of amount of CO2 captured from the air.

 Making the device portable and to monitor using IOT.

Extraction of air through inlet
Methodology:
Captured air is treated with absorber
Sodium hydroxide as absorber:

CO2(g) + NaOH(aq) → Na2CO3 (s) + H2O

Chemical reaction takes place

Lime water as absorber:

Formation of precipitate
CO2(g)  + Ca(OH)2(aq) → CaCO3(s) + H2O

Releasing of CO2 free air through outlet
