o New Haven is a coastal city in the U.S. state of Connecticut. It is located on New Haven
Harbor on the northern shore of Long Island Sound in New Haven County, Connecticut, and
is part of the New York City metropolitan area.

o Founded in 1638, New Haven is rich in history of innovation and artistry. The Elm City is
the first planned city in America built on a grid system and is best explored on foot through
a network of pedestrian-friendly streets.

Frisbee is said to have

based on the tin pans of the
Frisbie Pie Company which were
tossed around by students on

o Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is a 1,541-
bed hospital located in New Haven. It is one
of the largest hospitals in the world and the
largest in Connecticut. It is the primary
teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine
and Yale School of Nursing.

University, America’s third-oldest
university. As New Haven's
biggest taxpayer and employer,
Yale serves as an integral part of
the city's economy.
o Handsome Dan is a bulldog who serves as the mascot of Yale
University's sports teams. In addition to a person wearing a
costume, the position is filled by an actual bulldog, the honor (and
the title "Handsome Dan") being transferred to another upon death
or retirement.

Museum of Natural
History. The campus
includes many of the most
popular places to visit in
New Haven.
o The many programs, concerts, and events at Yale also add to New Haven's vibrant arts scene,
which includes a variety of theaters, a symphony, and a popular summertime jazz festival that
adds to its appeal for tourists. In addition to sightseeing, explore the numerous parks and natural
areas around the city; families will find plenty of things to do in East Rock Park and Lighthouse
Point Park.

New Haven is a wonderful place to visit. Although it is pretty small,
