My classroom management
philosophy: Introduction
• My classroom management
philosophy consists of a balance
between my ability to gain respect
from my students and engaging
my students interests in the
curriculum that I teach.

My philosophy
• Craig Seganti: It is up to the teacher to demand respect from the
students in order to teach the class. It is also important for the
teacher to show they are in control of the classroom and that they do
not put up with any disrespect. This allows the teacher to teach with
as little interruptions as possible and the student to learn.
• Harry and Rosemary Wong: With proper procedures put into place at
the beginning of the school year, students know what is expected of
them and can accomplish the tasks required of them.

philosophy #1
Craig Seganti: student behavior
How would Craig Seganti's philosophy
fit with my teaching style?
1. Seganti believes that discipline should be taken care of by the teacher rather than
the administration. This fits with my belief that the teacher should appear as the
authority figure that both demands respect and reprimands those who do not.

2. Seganti believes that strict rules allow for better management. This fits with my
philosophy that when the students know the limitations of the class, they are more
easily able to follow directions.

3. Seganti believes that the students are responsible to follow the rules and will be
punished if they are not. This agrees with my philosophy that there are
consequences to all actions, both negative and positive.

Harry and Rosemary Wong:
Procedures
How would the Wong's philosophy
fit with my teaching style?

Procedures should be
explained on the first day of
school

There should be procedures

for everything done in the
classroom

All procedures should be

explained and demonstrated to
the students.
