GIS Approach in mapping paleochannels

Results and Discussion
How do we delineate the paleochannel?
Sinusoidal pattern ,thick vegetation bands(high NDVI)
along the channel.

Dark tone in the TIR image indicating presence of

moisture.

Imprints of old filled up river valleys seen in spatial

profile

Subsurface river valley identified through GPR survey

Conclusion
The potentiality of remotesensing and GIS in delineating
the paleochannel

The study may help us to predict the risks associated with

Konark temple.

Plaeochannel studies help us in other analysis also such as

groundwater potential of the region, paleo climate etc.
