Dog Rescues Child from Burning House
J.A. Rivera
Taytay, Rizal – A dog became an unlikely hero after it pulled a seven-year-old boy from a
burning house in Taytay, Rizal last Tuesday, March 17.
The house belonged to Omar Guerrero and his wife, Ivy. Both parents were at the garden when
they noticed smoke coming from the window of an upstairs bedroom. Their seven-year-old son,
Timmy, was asleep upstairs. Fortunately, their black labrador, Angus, sensed the danger
immediately and woke up Timmy. The dog then led the boy through the smoke and outside the
house to safety.
“We were in a panic and were about to rush inside the house when we saw Angus pulling
Timmy out by his shirt sleeve,” Omar said.
“Angus is an amazing and responsible dog, and we are thankful that he is with us,” Ivy said.
The fire was put out by the fire department before the fire could spread downstairs. The
Guerreros lost some valuables because of the fire, but they are grateful that everyone
in their family is alive.
