Gymnasium
■ Šiauliai Juliaus Janonio Gymnasium
is a state general secondary education
school. It was founded in 1851 as
Boys' Gymnasium. Many outstanding
culture, science, arts and political
figures studied in Gymnasium. Its
history is reflected in the Gymnasium
History Museum. Former students
from all over the world come back to
share experiences, success stories and
career opportunities with the
present-day students.
Restored State of
Lithuania turns 100
■ In 2018, Lithuania celebrated the centenary of
the restoration of its independence. The Act of
Independence signed on February 16, 1918 is an
enormous achievement by the people determined
to
take responsibility for their country's future in
their hands.
■ Even four out of 20 signatories of The Act of
Independence were Gymnasium students:
Mykolas Biržiška, Jonas Vileišis, Alfonsas
Petrulis, Steponas
Kairys.
Curriculum

■ Gymnasium has developed a high reputation, both locally and nationally, with regard to
student academic, sports achievements, and researches in science. The curriculum at
Juliaus Janonio Gymnasium is designed to provide each student with
a suitable breadth and depth of opportunity in each year of study.
