The Exam
Part A = The Research Pack (Make 2 sides of A4 notes, at least size 10
font) Annotate the research pack = 2 Hours

Part B = The exam paper (Additional information about the business,


budget amount, Option A and Option B for the marketing campaign)
What CAN/SHOULD go in the Notes?
• An overview of the exam structure (the sections)

• Definitions of key models (e.g. SWOT, PESTLE, Porter, The Marketing


Mix)

• Key areas found in the Part A research pack (if you run out of
annotation room)
What CANNOT go in the Notes?
• ANY form of analysis (e.g. discussing why something is a Political factor)

• No pre-made analysis using tools such as SWOT/PESTLE 

• No attempt at making a budget plan/Gantt chart

Your notes will be checked before Part B of the exam to make sure you
have followed the stated rules. If you do not follow these guidelines, we
have to take your notes away. We have to keep your notes after the exam.
Annotations
• You should use the full two hours to annotate your research pack.
Remember to take it home and KEEP THIS SAFE for the following
day.
• You need to highlight any key information that you
can discuss within the campaign strategy
• You can make notes on the research pack (e.g. a 'P' for Political next
to information you think would be political) but you CANNOT write
any analysis. This will help you find information quicker
when writing your Situational Analysis/Marketing Mix
