1 Introduction

The Sociedad Inversiones Salar de Tara Primera SpA, a private company owns the
exploration mining concessions Eliana 1 to 22, respectively, legally created and with their
constituent sentences duly registered (the “Concessions”).
The Concessions cover an area of 5,500 hectares, and grant to their owners the right
to
explore a Lithium (Li), Potassium (K) and Boron (B) ore deposit that was listed by the
Chilean Ministry of Mining a few years ago in the list of the Most Importants Salars with
Potencial Interest in Lithium.
The best Lithium deposits in the world are located in northern Chile (Atacama salt
deposits) in terms of concentration, low impurities, low production cost and reserves and
Salar de Tara is close to it.

2 Location and access

Salar de Tara is located in the province of Calama, Antofagasta Region. Its location is
close to the volcano Zapaleri, whose summit marks the triple border point between
Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
The salar basin has app. 2,035 square kilometers, 23°03´ S / 67°15´ W, the surface of the
salar has app. 45 square kilometers, 678,052 E / 7,449,206 S - Huso 19, PSAD56. Its
average level is 4,330 m over sea level.
To get to the salar, it is necessary to get to San Pedro de Atacama and from there take the
route Ch-27, which leads to the Jama International Pass to Argentina, along 105 kms. Up
close to the Salar de Aguas Calientes Norte. From that point you have to take different
paths that border the volcano located north until reaching the salt.

5-Mining Property

The mining property consists of 22 exploration concessions called, Eliana 1 to Eliana 22 ,

each covering 200 or 300 hectares respectively. The concessions have their constituent
sentences duly registered and with their paperwork and patent payments in order and paid.
The property covers an area of 5,500 hectares, covering the entire salar area, (Fig. 1),

The edge of the salar is limited, mainly, by ingnimbrites rocks and tufts, that arrive to form
rocky walls in the margins.
Ignimbrites and diverse volcanic rocks of the Pleistocene constitute the main outcrops of
rocks that are distributed by the southwest sector of the salar, quaternary sediments are
important in the northeast side.
The salar is formed by a large lagoon that extends in the northeastern part along this
whole border, with superficial water flows that go in direction from the west to the east,
feeding this lagoon. The salt crust is formed by sulphates and is located on its western
edge in the form of a strip that surrounds the lagoon. Most of the surface of the salt is
covered by a layer of clayey-loamy, locally some sandy material, which is moist over much
of its extent, indicating a shallow water table. Those areas where this layer is drier show
clear evidence that its water loss has been recent, more so because of the many animal
prints that have been printed on it, especially flamingos, vicuñas and other birds that
inhabit the area . Within these traces a layer of halite is deposited, which evidences the
salt content of the brine. Halita is also observed in the northwest part of the salar, where it
forms a very thin layer, less than a millimeter thick, which covers it discontinuously. This
corresponds to a process of saline efflorescence, generated from the brines that make up
the water table of the salar. Saline crust samples indicate the dominant presence of halite
and gypsum. As it is emphasized in the work of CORFO (1978), the brines of the main
lagoon have reddish coloration. This study also reports contents of 424 mg / l lithium and
2,809 mg / l potassium in saline brines.

4-Analysis and sampling

In a work carried out by the National Service of Geology and Mining SERNAGEOMIN, a
state agency, on the potential for lithium of the Chilean salars, the following values are
indicated for the salar de Tara. For, the X-ray diffraction performed on the salt crust
samples shows halite and gypsum in order of abundance as the main minerals.
As for the chemical results of the salt crust, these have an important content of lithium and
boron, with values reaching 1,031 ppm of lithium and 1,637 ppm of boron. The results of
chemical analyzes on Tara salar brines samples indicate lithium contents varying at
around 440 mg / l, and the boron content varies around 700 mg / l.
6 Mineral resources estimation:

An estimation of in situ ore resources of the deposit hosted in the Concessions was
carried out by the Chilean Ministry of Mining for the CEOL process in 2012 and the
estimation was of 100.000 ton of Lithium (as Li)

7 Production:

The resources estimation would allow the continuous production for approximately 20

years of the following commercial product: Lithium carbonate (Li2CO3): 20,000 metric
tonnes per year.
