What can you link to the earlier case studies learnt (US Wine,
Allentown,Nokia, Thyrocare)?
• Unlike Nokia, Google cared to keep a check on the upcoming
competition and adapted accordingly even though they were
the market leaders.
• Similar to Thyrocare, Google always attracted and recruited
the best minds.
• Google constantly kept an eye on the changes in the market
dynamics and resorted to acquisitions or partnering with the
best ones in the digital and advertising sector having a
potential head of the department to oversee them. Thyrocare
failed to do this that led to it being sold off.
• While US wine market was too engrossed in its competition
and failed to analyze the customer needs , google continued to
remain customer centric in their new product developments

• Similar to Thyrocare and Honda , Google ensured they were


technologically ahead of their competitors.
• Unlike lack of proper role definitions in Allentown, Google
had a good organizational structure for different business
verticals.

2. Bring out the theoretical underpinnings that can be


appreciated studying this case?
• The ideology of converting the customer needs into
company’s profitability is one among the key reason for
Google’s growth.
• The organizational structure is sound- minimizing the
vertical hierarchy which facilitates better interaction
amongst employees and the teams that enables better
creativity and innovation.
• Google preferred to ditch products that they deemed non
essential to the company's future, instead of continuing
funding and development on it.

• Doing important acquisitions at the right time ensured


Google's success in the long run and also prevented rivals
from gaining the edge over them.
• They made advertising process all the more effective with
better advertising algorithmic tools, this in turn made them
profitable.
• Though Google was targeting moonshot projects, but to stay
relevant and profitable Google has diversified into different
products and services category.
• Google showcased strong core values by proactively
responding to user complaints, taking down bad
advertisements etc.

• Google understood the pain points under every segment and


brought in necessary systematic changes. For example, they
launched Android as an open source software to encourage a
steady manufacturing rate which boosted their market share to
a greater extent compared to Apple.
