The myth of zero calorie foods

• Apart from foods that have been engineered to be calorie-

free, like sugar substitutes, virtually all foods contain

calories.

• Some foods do require more energy to digest, but

digesting foods that are so-called 'zero-calorie' such as

celery or cucumbers is not going to have much impact.

• Instead of trying to eat “negative-calorie foods,” focus on

the positives that can lead to real lifestyle changes, like

portion control, consistent exercise, etc

• If we’re talking long-term,
sustainable fat loss; calorie
counting and its partner in crime,
dieting is simply NOT the answer.

• The advice that a “calorie is a

calorie”, or that to lose weight you
just need to “eat less and move
more", is misleading.

• It’s incredibly basic advice, which

has no respect for how complex our
bodies actually are.
