Mac Walt Disney’s Mulan remake perfunctorily recycles the worst aspects of the 1998 animated version and roundly fails to convincingly execute the few deviations that it does attempt. SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE FILM Mulan is a 2020 American action drama film produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1998 animated film of the same name, based on the Chinese folklore "The Ballad of Mulan". Plans for a live-action remake began in 2010 but the project stalled in development hell before filming took place in New Zealand and China from August to November 2018. Mulan's Hollywood premiere was held on March 9, 2020. Originally scheduled to be a wide theatrical release, it was ultimately cancelled in the United States after being delayed multiple times due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It received less favorable reviews from Chinese audiences, who criticized the character development and mishandling of cultural elements. MY PERSONAL OPINION ABPUT THE FILM The film is about a young Chinese maiden who disguises herself as a male warrior in order to save her father. I personally didn’t enjoy the film as much as I thought I would. I totally expected something different. This remake didn’t touch me at all. Some of the scenery are beautiful. Mountains and skyline of the capital city are breathtaking. I think that Yifei Liu is absolutely the ideal cast for the character of Mulan. It looks astonishing on that reflection of Mulan in the sword poster. The movie was dull and some of the scenes just didn't make any sense. If you want to make a good Chinese history based movie, the least thing you have to do is to do some real study on it. Mulan’s story, is an amazing one, which has been told to the Chinese children for over a thousand years. Mulan’s figure reflects bravery, loyalty, intelligence, and love for the close ones. The film does not highlight these things very well. Finally, I can say that the remake of Mulan didn’t live up to my expectations and disappointed me. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION!
