Advances In Research

Methods
What have we neglected?
INTRODUCTION
Research methods in the early ages were based on the
following simple and easy methods.
Correlation
Regression
Variance analyses
Factor analysis
But with the passage of time and technological
advancement many researchers have given new research
methods but that was not enough.
Inattention to research design
Although we have made significant advances in our research
methods but still there are some lacks and inattentions to
research designs.
Many examples of lack of consideration of timing of data is
still present in our time. But Kaltianen, lipponen and Holz
studied and justified one year seperation between data
collection.
Examples including time periods in recent
research methods:
It is important that our data collection efforts reflects the time
periods in which the process we are studying is likely to
occurs.
Time must be considered if we are to discover and adequately
estimate the underlying processes we seek to explain.
Some of the studies explained and mentioned time periods in
them like;
. Recruitment source timing and diagnosticity>human capital
. Interaction of job demands and control>death
Examples in our research methods
lacking discussion on timing of data
collection
CEO Power>broad-chair separation and lead independent
director app`ts.
Risk aversion>guanxi activities
Team commitment and organizational
commitment>dominating, integrating, obliging, avoiding
conflict strategies.
Estimate of effect size:
If we use the Cohen guides for small, medium and large
effect sizes we get good at d statistics. It is also interesting
that the literature on utility which estimated the effect of
various behavioral interventions in dollar terms.
If the effect is easily produced, then it should be less likely
dismissed as unimportant.
Summary and conclusions:
In the end, there is much about which to congratulate
ourselves regarding contributions to our science because
of sharp increase in quantitative analysis techniques that
help us understand data we collect as well as help to
educate our colleagues on their use and appropriate
interpretation.
Summarization of the study:
Summing up the entire research I also think close attention
must be paid to measurement, issues, research design
particularly in the context of longitudinal efforts.
We must have the ability to communicate our results in
conveying and convincing ways to those who consume
our research.
Importance of time period:
Last but not the least it may be the time that editors and
reviewers require that researches should present more
information on the content of measures and the validation
of those measurements.
Researchers must investigate that the why the previous
longitudinal researches lack time certainty in their data
which was more important part of latest research
techniques.
