What is Alcohol?

 It is a substance which is present


in drinks such as beer, wine, and
distilled spirits.
 It is widely used in Europe.
 NHS estimates that there are about
29 million peoples in Europe
struggling with alcoholism, in the
UK itself 9% men and 4% of
women show sign of alcohol
abuse.
 Examples:
 Beer e.g.: Tuborg,Heineken etc
 Alcohol wines
 Gin,vodka,whisky etc
Drugs

 Chemical substance that affect both your mind and your body.
 Prolonged use may lead to physical and/or psychological
dependence.
 An overdose may lead to death.

What is substitute addiction and why it is
needed?
 Substitutes means a treatment in the era of “Recovery”.
 A substitute addiction is defined as the substitution of one
addiction to another.
 It may occur for numbers of reasons.
 The anxieties and stress.
 They know that they cannot go to bar or be around other drugs
user.
 They may believe that they need something to release the
pressure.
 An heroine user turns to alcohol
 An alcoholic becomes an exercise-junkie.
Drug Substitution

 Many heroine and cocaine users will increase their smoking


habits and may begin to use marijuana as a way to calm them
during their withdrawals.
 Prescription medication is another high-risk substitution
addiction that can occur . Some people may be prescribed
pain killers, or anti-anxiety medication to assists with the
recovery.
Alcohol Substitutes

 The first step towards recovering from alcohol is to admit to


the problem.
 To substitute alcohol one can become a exercise-junkie so that
they can do excessive exercise and avoid the habit of in taking
alcohol.
 Soon they will try to control their feelings and develop new
ways to address their problems and insecurities, without
having turn to alcohol.
Suicide Ratio

 Though the ratio is high in 2014 but it has declined from


2012-13
 More than 25000 people committed suicide in India due to
drug and alcohol abuse in the 10-year period between 2004-
2013,according to National Crime Record Bureau.
 United Nations estimated that drug abuse killed more than 2
lakh people in the world in 2014
Treatment and prevention of alcoholism

 Alcohol anonymous has meeting in many locations
in India.
 Youth veerangnayen focuses on educating the youth
about dangers of alcohol and drug.

provide alcohol and drug abuse treatment facility in
Asia
Suggesstion:

 Get help!
 Counselling/guidance
from medical
authorities.
 Know the dangers of
alcohol/drugs abuse
and avoid them.
 Avoid bad company.
What we should do?

 Every form of alcohol is bad, no matter whether the


narcotic be alcohol or morphine or idealism.
Always do what makes you happy
but... Don't do Drugs and Alcohol
