Ammy’s father could hardly afford her basic education, so extra
classes and other activities were out of question. Ammy’s father gave
her whatever they could. Ammy’s focus had always been achieving
great laurels in her education, and as time passed she succeeded as
well. Now Ammy was out of her college looking for her job, with her
excellent degree scores and completing her Social sciences. As
soon as she got one, everyone was happy that Ammy now would be
sharing the burden on her father. The day she got her first paycheck,
she decided to take her father to a fancy dinner place, which they
only could have dreamt about. At the time of paying the bill, instead of
paying the bill with her own card, she slided the card towards her
father and asked him to do the further customs. Her father smiled and
his eyes gleamed with happiness, and he understood the respect
given.

Elsie told me of an incident in her childhood. Her father had returned from a
business trip with presents for the girls: two dolls. One had a red dress and
the other a blue dress.
Elsie decided that she wanted the one with the red dress. But she knew that,
if she said so, her sister would say, “No, I want the one with the red dress”,
and her mother would say, “Now, Elsie, be nice and let your little sister have
the one she wants”.
Elsie realised in a flash that she had to say she wanted the one with the blue
dress. She said so and her sister duly responded, “No, I want the one with the
blue dress”. And, of course, her mother said, “Now, Elsie, be nice and let
your little sister have the one she wants”. Elsie, nice as pie, let her younger
sister have the one in blue so she could have the one she really wanted.
